Ning in Education

Using Ning for Educational Social Networks

I'm very new to exploring how my students might be able to use Ning with sister classes around the world, and also technologically deficient. And this question has probably already been answered somewhere. Is it possible to embed Voice Threads into Ning? If so, how?

If I remember (and I have done it), you just grab the VoiceThread embed code and place it in the text box and the NIng does the rest. I seem to remember the VT being too big and I had to shrink down the size of it.
I suggest you give it a try here and see what happens.
I'd be happy to leave you a message on a VT.

Kevin,

Thanks. I'll give it a shot.

Hi Kevin,

Is the VoiceThread embed code an HTML code, or is it a program I install? When you say the VT was too big and you had to shrink it down, did you mean the image that was displayed, or something else? As you can see, I've never used Voice Threads before, but it sounds interesting. Thanks!

Here, let me try one -- I created a quick VoiceThread, made it public, and then grabbed the embed code from VoiceThread. I am going to just paste the embed code here and see what happens. Feel free to leave a comment, if you would like:

Kevin,

I just want to be clear -- you just put the embed code in your text box right below your comment? If that's all you did, it can't get much easier than that!

That was it.
Simple.
I did grab the "small version" to make it fit in the Ning.

You can also see I tried the video comment, too -- it comes up after my audio.

It is supposed to be free, but I am not sure .
Inow want to find out how I can enter our 600 kids so they can reply [free]
Would appreciate any ideas
