I am an instructional designer and find myslef creating many "how to" instructional pages with screen shots and steip by step instructions for students and faculty. I like to use Voicethread to simplify this porcess. Sometimes a simple picture posted on a voice thread with the addition of my voice helps. Plus users can add questions if they need clarificaiton of steps.
I love this product. Easy to use, easy to integrate into the classroom!

We used Voicethread extensively last year. Nearly every project we did, we made a Voicethread about it. So, we used it for reports, and we used it to communicate with our partners overseas. It is so easy and quite effective.
I used voicethread in two projects last spring with my grade two students. We had been reading Folktales and decided to do group projects on real animals. We brainstormed all the animals we could think of in the folktales and then chose 8 animals from that list to study. We were a class of 24 so had groups of 3 kids working together. When it came time to share the projects voicethread came up as a great way to share. The kids drew pictures of their animals and I uploaded them to voicethread. I took an educational account so I could have 8 separate voicethreads. They also compared the real animal with the folktale animal. The project was very succcessful and the students loved working on the voicethread and hearing their voice. The second project was for Father's Day. The kids drew pictures of their father and then wrote about the best thing about their dad and recorded it. It was amazing how quickly the students learned how to use voicethread. You can also hear it in their voices how their confidence improved.
I'm not that savy on how to show a link to voicethread but they are on my classroom blog. That's another thing I experimented with last spring. After doing the animal projects I wanted a way to share them with the parents. So I created the classroom blog. My blog is http://teacher102.edublogs.org/
this a link to the father's day project http://voicethread.com/?#q
you can find the folktale projects on the first page of my blog...we did them in April -
HI Amy,
Thanks for your comment. I learned a lot about technology last year and am ready to learn more this year. It was my first experience with blogging and I hope to continue with my new first grade class.

I have used VoiceThread to upload a 60 second demo of some digital storytelling software to share with other educators. The most exciting thing is that one of the comments is from a student who thought it was "really cool".
