Hi my name is Greg Limperis and I hail from Derry, Nh. I gre up in inner city Lowell, MA, the home of the Industrial Revolution. I am an eagle scout by way of troop 25 which has helped mold me into who i am today. My work with inner city children as an Assistant Scout Master and then as a Committee Chairman at age 21 was what in turn lead me toward the profession of educating our youth. My listlest time as an Engineer major and the as a Criminal Justice major with a legal studies minor and a paralegal certificate left me wondering what I wanted to do with my life. Looking for work, I joined the National Park Service in Lowell as a Park Interperative Ranger educating visiotrs about the Industrial Revolution. It was here that I ended up first working with our youth at the Tsongas Industrial History Center, an affiliation of the Local university, UMASS Lowell. After many years of seasonally working with either the park or the university, multiple educators visiting the site convinced me to go back to school in order to pursue an aducation degree. Eventually, I ended u enrolling and being accepted into Boston College's Donovan Scholars Masters Degree program. This program is a intense one year Masters Degree cohort that focuses on Urban Education. It was here that I started my student teaching in Lawrence, MA, the sister city to Lowell MA, and home of the Bread and Roses strike during the Industrial Revolution. During my days at BC, I also aquired and appreciation of the American Revolution by working for Minuteman National Historical Park (as an Interperative Park Ranger) the birthplace of our freedom and home to the "shot heard around the world". For the past 13 years, I have been educating a student population that is 85% hispanic with English as their second language, most of them living at or below the poverty level. I have been a Technology Facilitator in two state of the art schools now educating middle school students for almost 11 years now and technology has become my passion.

The work of Steve hargandon and his desire to help better the integration in education from this site, to classroom 2.0 to his lates venture with Elluminate called Learn Central, as well as countless other endeavors has help fuel my desire to do more. Since witnessing his hard work, I have launched a group on www.Linkedin.com called Technology Integration in Education with almost 1500 members and growing. I have also branced that group out into Ning and have created my own PLN at http://tech-in-ed.ning.com under the same group name. I am amazed at the work Steve does and can not figure out how he keeps up. You can see by the time stamp that I am typing this at 2:45 am. I don't sleep anymore. I guesss that does not matter, when you love what you are doing.

Hello, from the southern interior of British Columbia, Canada. I am the Manager of IT for a small, rural school district and joined this network hoping for the opportunity to find out what other districts/schools are doing with technology. We will be venturing into new territory this year with Video Classrooms for some of our high school classes and Connected Classrooms for our elementary schools. If anyone out there is doing similar projects, I'd love to hear from you.

Lucie from Quebec, I'm a secretary but I oriented my career toward multimedia.
I would like to learn more about technologies.

I've started a ning network just for fun, but also for giving more information to the people who subscibed and those who would like to exchange and communicate their knownledge on different subjects. such as "English and French courses" "software info" "Forum" "multmedia"etc.

Anyway, I would like to explore and learn more about technologies on your network.

Sky has no limit!

Cordially.

Hi. I joined this group awhile back and I haven't even posted am Intro yet. I tell ya' Ning is quite a bit overwhelming. I still have barely scratched the surface. I apologize for not posting. I usually don't lurk, but I've been rather intimidated by ning in general. Which is embarrassing to me, because I considered myself to be DECENTLY pc literate. The newer, more fully-featured FREE sites are really throwing me. I LOVE 2.0!
Anyway, I am a35 year old mom that is an aspiring educator. I have 1.5 years left in college, but I have to go back 1st. I've got 3 boys and family life got in the way of college... I wanted to stay home with my boys. I even homeschooled for awhile... and liked it. However, my oldest is in public school and I've been involved somewhat with his teacher and helping find resources on the web. Actually, I spent YEARS online, looking for the 'perfect' resource, as I'm sure that many of you have. So, I've stayed on top of the ever-changing educational internet and I'm comfy w/K-3 stuff.
I actually started a teachers site on Yahoo! for the reading series Treasures (MacMillan McGraw-Hill) back in February that's actually done pretty well. I hit the 100 member mark last week and decided to make a sister-site on ning. There's so many teachers that need to learn to use new technologies and at least be familiar with them.
I am hoping to learn from this group for myself and to help others. Before I go back to college (January is projected start date), I'm hoping to learn a lot from groups like this and connect with people and start teaching and learning!!!

ThanX for having me~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sharnon Johnston-Robinett

I am interested in how libraries in tertiary institutions are using Ning to promote library services. I would like to trial an on line newsletter that students and teaching staff and other invited 'friends' can add content to. I would be interested in hearing from anyone else that has enabled the adding of content to their Ning network , in what context and what have been the successes or failures of this approach.
