Welcome! Please introduce yourself, let us know who you are and where you are from, and, if you are already using Ning in an educational setting, how you are using it.
Most interested in what you are doing, especially the disaffected or disconnected students. Reminds me of Kristian Still's work.
What you've said about "just feeling connected and cared for" reminds me of my own personal maxim about managing and parenting: "It's about time." And if the tools provide for time and attention to the one, then I think they are significant. Hope you'll expand on your thoughts here.
My name is Ivette Figueroa from Orlando Florida. Traditional teaching methods which in most cases did not work for our generation is definitly not working for this new generation of learners.
Kids with lbehavior problems, which in many cases have to do with some kind of learning disorder, have never had a voice. Thank you for being just that for them.
We are an VR education company developing education tools addressing needs such as this. I would definitly like to hear more and how I may help. You are absolutely right, this is a very powerful place to be!
My name is Andy Pass. I'm an independent educational consultant. I develop curriclum and conduct professional development with a focus on technology integration and understanding by design. Recently, I've become very interested in helping Web 2.0 companies reach the education market. There are so many different ways that Web 2.0 can enhance learning and teaching and I want to help promote this.
When I'm not working I enjoy hanging out with my girlfriend and her two children.
My name is Sandi, I work in instructional technology in a large school district. Our focus the past two years is really ramping up integration of all the technology available to us. Web 2.0 is a huge part of that focus. I love all things technology and truly believe that there is NO EXCUSE for a boring classroom.
onya Steve. I'm Simon in Brisbane, Queensland. I'm using Ning to encourage teachers to use Web2.0 tools and also to engage students in online communication.
Hi Steve I am a teacher in nsw who has only started to use ning. I am interested in using ning with students. i would be interested in what you have been able to achieve
I haven't used Ning in the classroom yet, but I hope to set up a social network for my students this year. I am very interested in the many things I might do with Web 2.0 this year. In addition to anticipating using social networking, I am hoping to use Moodle, which I am still struggling to get set up. I am interested in hearing from people who are using Moodle and Ning. Hey, Steve, think you could set up a group for high school teachers? Maybe I can do it. I'll try. Thanks for your dedication to the Ning project. Very cool.
Welcome to the community for those using Ning to power their educational social network. Also be sure to check out Classroom 2.0 for general discussions of Web 2.0 in the classroom.
Please introduce yourself in the "Introductions" forum post. And to see a list of Ning networks being used in education (or to add yourself!), please visit Social Networks in Education.
