I am interested in how libraries in tertiary institutions are using Ning to promote library services. I would like to trial an on line newsletter that students and teaching staff and other invited 'friends' can add content to. I would be interested in hearing from anyone else that has enabled the adding of content to their Ning network , in what context and what have been the successes or failures of this approach.

However I created a Ning website for relatives and friends so that we can contact each from any where in the Globe. At the time being I really like what ning could offer and still learning how to include some more features on my ning website. Thanks once again.

My name is Denise Whiteman and this is my 25th year as the elementary librarian for Otto-Eldred, a small rural school district in NW PA. As part of my role, I instruct the students in introductory keyboarding skills and basic technology skills. I am presently my district OPC for Blended Schools. I use as many types of technology in my classes as I can, however budget and time are occasionally hindrances. I do not presently use Ning in my classes, partially because I am new to it. I am working on my master's in Instructional Media, which is how I find myself exposed to this interesting new format. On a side note, I also use my experiences volunteering at the Erie Zoo in as much of my educational endeavors as I can.

Hello! I am pleased to join this NING community. I am a Director of Technology in a suburban school district< Peters Township, sw of Pittsburgh, PA. (The City of Champions!) In my spare time, I am an adjunct instructor in the educational technology department of Waynesburg University. I have used NING for a technology committee and as a teaching tool for social networking. Several of our teachers use NING as a way to communicate with students and parents. I find it to be a viable communication tool and a way to engage those who like the social networking format.

I found this NING network while looking for a safe and educational way to share the world of social networking with teachers in my summer technology session. Hopefully this will help to provide them with ideas and tips in using Ning in their classrooms!

I am presently teaching high school business and technology and looking to build 5 lesson plans around developing a classroom based social networking site on Ning. The goal would be to allow students to share their class projects, comments and participate in peer coaching using the network. I am specifically developing these lesson plans for a BCIS course (Business Computer Information Systems). Any help advise out there?

Hello, my name is Stephanie Kuhn. I have been teaching for 6 years and am currently enrolled in an Instructional Media Master's program at Wilkes University. I have completed my first master's degree in education with a specialization in Reading and Literacy. With technology being an initiative in my district as well as an interest of mine, I decided that this would be an enjoyable and worthwhile experience. So far, I have not been disappointed.
Creating a Ning account is new for me and I am just getting started. I am anxious to see how it all works and see what it is all about.

HI I'm Jeremy and I teach 7th grade science at Riverwood Middle School in Clayton North Carolina! I've been teacher for 4 years and I am very excited to be using Ning for the first time. I currently do not use Ning in my classroom, but I am exploring it in my Master's class and hope to become more familiar and comfortable using it in education.

Tom Whitby. I am a retired secondary English teacher, who, after 32 years a teacher, decided to enter the world of Higher Ed to teach future teachers. Best made plans... I have actually become the student. I have developed a very productive Personal Learning Network between Linkedin and Twitter. I founded several groups on Linkedin including Technology-Using Professors and Twitter-Using Educators. These groups opened my eyes and re-enforced the need for and use of technology in Education. It was reassuring to see names in this group familiar to me from the other connections. It is almost like entering a new class on the first day and seeing people that you know.
I want to learn how to create a site for my methods students and professors.I am hoping this approach will enable us to go beyond all that has been offered in the past.I am also planning to have my student teachers on twitter for real time comments and sharing of information with connected student teachers and professors.
I am open to any suggestions or avoidances in order to make all of this happen.
