Hi, thanks for the invitation to join the group. I'm originally from England but settled in the states fifteen years ago. I write material for a nonprofit organization aimed at showing students how to build resilience against depression. My high school (actually it was a Harry Potter style of public school without the wizards...) days were so dreary and repressive I am now devoted to showing students how to avoid the same thing.

We have a multimedia website, or at least we're turning it into a multimedia website, that any educator around the world can freely use. Its based on new scientific studies in the field of Subjective Well Being, or simply, happiness. Please let me know what you think...the link is Pursuit-of-Happiness.org . Best wishes.

Hello! I teach at an all-girls independent school in CT. We have just created a Ning network for our 7th grade students and teachers as a way to teach social network do's and don'ts. Does anyone know of a way to invite members without becoming friends with them? I've noticed that as the inviter I'm always friends with the invitees. I would rather not be friends with all our students.
Thanks,
Yumi

Hi! My name is Candace Musawwir. I teach 7th grade special education in NJ. I am currently enrolled in Wilkes University's Instructional Media program and this is my first time using Ning. I hope by using this social networking site, I will gain better insight and ideas as to how to incorporate technology in the classroom and apply it with my own students.

My name is Adam and I am the principal of the World Famous Marinette Middle School. Our building consists of four separate grade levels, 11 teams, 600 students, and 50 or so teachers, paras, support staff and administrators. I've been looking for a ning or wiki of active principals, but that is hard to find. In fact, I have found many administrators that tell their schools what to do, but do not have a clue how to use or implement the technologies that are so abundant. I look forward to learning from each of you!

Hi! My name is Michelle and I am a fifth grade teacher in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. This is my fourth year teaching fifth grade. Prior to my experiences in public school, I worked at a private daycare, primarily with preschool and kindergarten aged students. I have just begun using Ning, so I am new to this networking community. My only experiences with it thus far is through the Wilkes University instructional setting. I have created my own social networking site, Committed to Creating, Congregating, and Connecting: Technology is a Means to a Brighter Future! (http://commitcreatecongregateconnect.ning.com/profile/Michelle) and have posted an initial discussion topic in my forum. I invite Ning in Education members to visit my page and welcome your contributions.

Hello Everyone,
I have been in education for 28 years and I still love it! I am currently teaching third graders in a talented and gifted program in Maryland. Please share any resources you have for using technology to improve classroom management and teaching. We have access to some technology due to some grants and gifts. I have not started a Ning with my students but I hope to as soon as I get more familiar with the format.
