Ning in Education

Using Ning for Educational Social Networks

Has anyone added any applications to a student/class network? I've read the terms of service for these apps and they say that some information about users will be shared with third parties. Should I be worried at all? I guess I'm already exposing student information to a third party by inviting them to use Ning, but I want to be cautious. I'm not asking my students to post any information about themselves other than their name and email, and making it optional for them to use their picture in their profile. Any thoughts?
