Just thought I'd let you all know that I have updated the translation scripts so that they work in the new version of Ning.
You'll find scripts and widgets for translating a network to 40 different languages. Widgets for copying, pasting and translating text, adding text to speech, spelling checker and more. All the scripts are free, (many of them have been collected from other free sites around the web). The network is my way of giving back to the community.
Why not pay a visit? Translated.ning.com
I seem to be having a problem with downloading the script? There is no download when I click the link, just a GIF image,I have tried right click and "Save As" is not an option?
Thank you, I do have a view Source and was able to get the code-But now I am having the same problem I have had with the other widgets-It reverts back to the english page in just a few seconds. Any ideas? Seems I am not the only one that works all nite, thank you for your help
I will leave this up for awhile www.drillingahead.com I have added the additional 'break out of a frame" code but still reverting back to the original page?
Hi,
Although I do often work all night, its now 14:14 in my part of the world :)
If you look on the tutorial page, you will see that there are 2 steps needed in order for the translation script to work. Also if yours is a private site that requires login to browse, the script won't work at all, something to do with cookies. (If you try on my site you'll see the script only works from my main page as login is required in order to view the rest)
If it is a private site, I'd suggest adding either the "translate any" link which pops open google translate in a mini window which can remain open while your users browse the site, or the translate textbox, which can sit in the right hand column and thus be available from any page in your site.
Thank you very much Susan! The issue was the cookies. Have you heard of the new translation widget that microsoft has out? I have applied for an invite for it and waiting. I did try a demo of it and it was pretty cool, it translated the page without leaving the page! Just wondering if you know if this will work with Ning?, Thank you very much for all your help...Curtis
Hi Jen,
The tranlsation script won't work on a private site. The only solution at the moment for a private site is to embed a "translation box" or to add a link that pops open google translate in a mini window.
As to the public site, have you followed "step 1" in the instructions? If so the script should work. The only other reason I can think of is if you are using a "safari" browser, which apparently doesn't support these scripts.

Hi Susan,
So I launched my first ning and now I want it to be an all Hebrew ning. As I set it up, I could not find Hebrew on the Select Language dropdown and could not layout items rtl. What do I do now?
I do not need to translate content, just set up a Hebrew ning system. I visited Translated.ning.com but could not find links to widgets that'll make my ning labels, menu and layout direction Hebrew savvy.
