I'm teaching English and Composition and want to start using Ning in my class. My students have to do peer reviews and submit them to their classmates. How can this be done in Ning? I'm quite new to this and don't know where to begin. I assume they can upload their document but where? In the discussion or in their blog? In a group? And how do I set it up so that comments stay with the right essay? If everyone uploaded to the same place and everyone starts commenting, how do we know which comment is for what essay? If you are teaching a class that involves any kind of writing critique, I would really like to know how you set up your site, how you use each feature, etc. I'd really appreciate some help. Thanks.
You can also have the students post their essay in a text box and the others can retrieve it, write their comments, and post it back on their own pages.
This semester is also my virgin voyage using the ning for classroom writing and peer response. I've tried two methods: 1. post the question/topic on the forum, have students respond or post their writings, then have either established groups reply to each other--or I had my students respond to two other pieces. 2. If you are working with one class, have them post their pieces as blogs and reply in the same fashion. You can work with the reply commands through the "manage" tab. Hope this helps!
Welcome to the community for those using Ning to power their educational social network. Also be sure to check out Classroom 2.0 for general discussions of Web 2.0 in the classroom.
