Hi Everyone,
Probably the single best practice that I can recommend to any High School Psychology Teacher is to join Teaching of Psychology in the Secondary Schools (TOPSS). There are numerous resources made available to TOPSS members and some of the best high school and college psychology teachers are there to offer help, support, etc. If possible, I would recommend that you attend APA TOPSS meetings as well. There are TOPSS related sessions at the National Council of Social Studies (NCSS) teacher conferences as well as at APA. Some states also have heavy involvement in TOPSS related activities. There are also several internet discussion groups... (send me a message if you would like contact info for the groups.)
I personally provide high school Psychology teachers with a few publications such as Games To Explain Human Factors (see the Games Group and my photo albums here on Ning in Education for a description. I also make Career Options With A Psychology Degree available and I do school visits where feasible for Psychology Teachers and Classes. Let me know if I can be of help to you. Ron

I'd be really interested in seeing the course structure too.

I'm assembling quite a lot of resource material on dyslexia and other cognitive difficulties on dysTalk if you're interested. There's a particularly juicy talk on Memory.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

W

Hi Bob, I'm not sure about the creator of the group, I'm very interested in what you're doing. This is my first year in the high school and I have a class full of wireless laptops. Would it be possible for me to see how you structured your course? I'm in need of some direction, the guy I'm taking over for was very traditional and all he left were study guides and tests.

I'm teaching a high school psych course via distance learning with all assignments posted on the internet using Angel course management software. Material is all posted online with class discussions and blogs for students to complete. Are you still keeping this group active?
