Hello fellow SAWPers, you've come to the right place!

This Ning is a pragmatic place, even if it looks a little confusing at first. The first thing you need to do once you've successfully joined Ning in Education and found this group is to locate two relevant Discussion Posts located in the "Discussion Forum" below. The first is written by myself, Taylor Johnson, and the second was created by my Pima 100 student, Marissa, who was kind enough to upload her essay for us to offer feedback on. Once you've read my introduction to get an overview of our activities today, you will open Marissa's Discussion Post, read her message requesting feedback, and then you will reply to her discussion. Good luck and have fun with this learning process!

Also see http://education.ning.com/forum/topics/students-tools-cell-phones on Lisa Schwartz' research project and consider replying to her questions about teacher policy on use of student technology tools in the classroom. Your practice and thoughts are much appreciated!

Check out Scott Habeeb's http://education.ning.com/profiles/blogs/guidelines-for-using-ning-in-a and click on Ning Guidelines...what do you think? Are these useful guidelines for providing a structured learning environment? Are these policies too restrictive? I'd be interested to hear people's responses.

I teach a K/1st multiage class at Borton Primary Magnet School in the Tucson Unified School District.

There is a computer lab at my school and my students spend 30 minutes in there each week. Mostly, they are learning how to log on and off and how to navigate various age appropriate programs. This past year, my 1st grade math students worked on a System's Thinking program set up by our System's Thinking specialist. This became a powerful learning tool. But, I'd still like to do more.

I'm fortunate to have a great collaboration team consisting of three other K/1 teachers. We often share students as well as student work. We all have similar teaching philosophies and I highly value their opinions. It is a very positive experience. I will often tell one of my students that i have shared their writing with one or all of the other teachers and I share the feedback. I find that my students enjoy this kind of feedback, too.

OK, I'm in! Happy to be here (it seems like I was wandering the halls forever!). There isn't really anything I could say to distinguish myself, so I'll just wait here to see what happens next. (As for the pic, it was probably the last good one I had taken, circa third or fourth grade.)
