Hi! I'm Kathleen. I teach K/1 at Borton Primary Magnet School.
I'm enjoying the band this morning :-) Really! I love listening to bands play. I get annoyed when broadcasts of parades on TV cut them off and go to commercials instead.
Taylor introduced me to Nings last summer at SAWP. I tried setting up a similar discussion method with some of my coworkers but they weren't sure how to respond.
Most of the feedback I give my students is verbal.
I really enjoy learning about technology and learning how to use it better.
I love the band, too! What exactly happened with your co-workers? I'd be interested to hear more. You might look around on Ning in Education and see if others had similar issues,
Taylor
My co-workers replied in person to my questions! We meant to get together sometime so I could show them how to respond on the Wiki Space but there's never time to do that.
I wonder how k-1 students might handle a Ning? Interesting challenge. I can see that it is a problem to get co-workers involved in this kind of technology because they are not necessarily "digital natives."
I really wish we had more access to updated computers so I could play with this with my students. It would be interesting to see. Even with limited usage, I know many of them are already very technical. Once they learn how to do something on the computer, how to access something or adjust something, they tend to remember.
Welcome to the community for those using Ning to power their educational social network. Also be sure to check out Classroom 2.0 for general discussions of Web 2.0 in the classroom.
Please introduce yourself in the "Introductions" forum post. And to see a list of Ning networks being used in education (or to add yourself!), please visit Social Networks in Education.
