Intro Prompt:
I teach 8th grade English at Tortolita Middle School. I teach because I love middle school students.
I am interested in the Holocaust and teaching,
I am always looking for ways to employ technology with students because that is beginning to be my students' world.
I try to give students feedback on their major papers, when they take their work to another draft by either writing in the columns of their papers, using rubrics, or using comments in the margins of their drafts online.
I am very interested in ways to provide more immediate feedback.
My own children still make connections at times to when they studied the Holocaust in school, such a powerful subject and a good way to get everyone involved.
You are indeed a special person--I always hear so many evil comments about middle school kids, especially 8th graders. It's always good to hear from a middle school teachers who loves their kids.
I always struggled with giving kids feedback by writing on their papers because so often they didn't seem to get that the comments were there for a purpose. I found that I had to be very selective--not too many comments and then specifically instruct them to comment back to me on my comment.
