Hi There - I work at the Calgary Science School in Alberta, Canada. One of our grade 4 Science Teachers has recently published a website sharing resources, lesson and handouts. There's also background information on a number of the grade 4 science topics. You can access the site by clicking here.

I don't see a link to upload files that might be relevant when commenting in this "group" section as opposed to responding to posts made in the "Discussion Forum." Also, it doesn't seem like you can edit remarks made her the way you can in the Discussion Forum either. Are my perceptions correct?

For those who teach the IB middle years program I have added this group if you are interested. I am hoping to this group can share ideas, lesson plans and do more online collaboration.

thanks, this is helpful. We have 2 computer labs for sign up and think next year this will be bumped up to 4.

Could you perhaps start with one unit instead of consistent use by one class? Do you have a computer lab where you have to sign up? If so, perhaps a three week unit for one class to work out the bugs, figure out pros and cons, and modify for other classes. I make the mistake of jumping in and sometimes getting in over my head. Imagine that! Hope this is helpful!

One of my goals for the next school year is to get at least one of my science class operating through a ning page. The problem is, they don't have access to computers all of the time. I think this would be optimal in a school with a laptop for every student. Any suggestions on how to use a ning page for students with access to computers just some of the time?

I have just been Ning initiated! My name is Jennifer Barnett and I teach in an IB/ MYP school in Austin, Texas. Another science teacher from Qatar started a group and invited me and behold...a whole new world. Austin is a very high-tech kind of place and technology is a big part of the Middle Years Programme. So is being a global citizen. My principal wants me to look into Moodle, but with teens at home, teaching and helping other teachers, I haven't had time to sit down with it yet. I would be very interested, especially for next school year, collaborating with someone out there in Ning-ville on a mutually interesting topic. My project this year is trying to have students create podcasts as Service Learning. It has been a challenge and I don't have all the kinks and logistics worked out yet. Any suggestions would be welcome! As we say in Texas, "Bye, Y'all!"

I am desperately searching for a way to use Ning in my classroom. Can you help me?
