I ended up in China because I had a friend who I used to teach with in Canada who had been at my school for a few years and she asked me if I was interested. I wasn't but then I was. I love it. It is the best decision I have ever made. I just signed by 3rd 2 year contract so will be here at least until 2010.
The best ways to get to Asia is word of mouth, find out about different schools in the area you are interested in and check out websites or apply to go to a job fair. There are an unbelieveable number of international schools around Asia.
From what I have seen recently though, China and possibly Thailand give the best packages for expat teachers.

Hope that helps.

Also, don't give up on using ning in elementary classrooms. I think we will prevail!
