1. I think this is a good way to give feedback to an older student (one who understands constructive critism) becasue it gives them access to a variety of different opinions. Some suggestions they may agree with and others they may dismiss but it is…
I too was impressed by Marissa's organization and use of conventions. It's obvious she pays a lot of attention to detail and takes great pride in her work.

I really wish we had more access to updated computers so I could play with this with my students. It would be interesting to see. Even with limited usage, I know many of them are already very technical. Once they learn how to do something on the com…
Hi Marissa,
I enjoyed reading your essay.
I liked the way you were able to mix your own experiences with your research. This made it more personable.
I was able to read it through easily without having to stop to reread for clarity. It seems to f…
I wonder how k-1 students might handle a Ning? Interesting challenge. I can see that it is a problem to get co-workers involved in this kind of technology because they are not necessarily "digital natives."
My co-workers replied in person to my questions! We meant to get together sometime so I could show them how to respond on the Wiki Space but there's never time to do that.
Hi Victoria,
My own children still make connections at times to when they studied the Holocaust in school, such a powerful subject and a good way to get everyone involved.

I love the band, too! What exactly happened with your co-workers? I'd be interested to hear more. You might look around on Ning in Education and see if others had similar issues,

Hi Sharon,
I find it fascinating that you have a family Ning! I could do this with my kids but not my siblings. My family really needs to learn more technology.

Hi! I'm Kathleen. I teach K/1 at Borton Primary Magnet School.
I'm enjoying the band this morning :-) Really! I love listening to bands play. I get annoyed when broadcasts of parades on TV cut them off and go to commercials instead.

Kathleen:
Absolutely--you can upload files, including a scanned document, as we did in looking at the advertisement that Jesse uploaded. Great idea as a PD tool to look at K-2 student work through the ning and discuss. I love it!

Taylor,
I found this to be very interesting. I enjoyed looking over a piece written by a high school student as i generally only see primary work. Still, I think the delivery of feedback stays the same no matter what grade you teach. It needs to be…
Hi, Kathleen, thanks for joining! I am so looking forward to your participation, and please, give me lots of feedback on how this could be made more useful for a K-2 teacher. I've been trying to think about that, but any insights or suggestions you have are greatly appreciated. I wonder if there are any technologies being developed that are geared towards the younger set? Oh, and if you have a jazzy photo you'd be willing to upload, that would be great. I think you can add it by clicking on "change my photo" or "add my photo" on your "My Page" tab at the top. Good luck! ;)
