Teaching Benefits

I have a Master Degree in Engineering Studies and am thinking about going into teaching after being laid-off last December. The pay is not much of an issue but I am concerned about the benefits. Do teachers have adequate Medical insurance for themselves and their families? Does that insurance run through the summer months when teacher is not working? Thanks.
