Hi Maria, it's really good to hear about your and your students process etc.
I think the trust issue is big and well generally it's great that you don't expect all the bells and whistles to occur overnight. it's always good to be reminded of all that :)!!
I think it makes great sense as a reading assignment, and I do see some conversation in there :) I think you do a wonderful job of commenting back and being respectful, and encouraging the students. Well, I will be in touch :)!

And the fake student added a fake discussion too - same as what the person did on our site....(help for a masters degree is the title of the subject)

Maria, how are you? Hope all is going well.
I wanted to let you know that I noticed that the same "fake student" that had joined one of our GEAR UP sites joined science class blogs (Name Suzzane Donald, Female London,UK United Kingdom)- so you might want to end "her" membership. Also I wanted to let you know I am
I am going to share your awesome science class blogs site with a group of 9th grade integrated science teachers I am working with here in Tucson (some of which will hopefully be my dissertation research!). The idea is to use writing (through science notebooks and digital tools) to support the process of science. And your work shows how important the dialogue is between teacher and student etc.
If things get off the ground it would actually be really amazing to interview you about your work...or we could do it as a group (in a chat or a phone conference) I am hoping to have this be a participatory action project...I am very excited about it all. I will be in touch :) thanks for being such a trailblazer and committed teacher!

Hi Maria,

With your interest in using Education Technology for your science class, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service.
