If you ask me Ning has set up a bad situation. I know in my case I have been looking for an alternative. Not that I want to leave Ning, I really like it, but I don't want to violate policies either. I can see a mass exit if teachers find and afforda…
This is a very interesting site Fran. Are there any tutorials on how to create class or groups? I could see the possibilities for using the global classroom site instead of Ning.
Thanks Merle. You say that each student uses a school login - what email address do they use? Do they each have a school email or do you use the "gmail+" trick? Thanks again.
How do you register students for your ning? I teach middle school business/computer classes and I have looked at your ning and see many things I would like to do that you are already doing! Do each of your students login with an email address? Thanks
I saw your post about the ning you have for your classes. I would like to do this, too. You said that your different classes in the group area, and discussions are listed for them there. Does that mean the students can't go into another group that is not their class period? Do you have to approve them to sign up for a group? That would be good. At first I was debating whether to have all classes on one ning or one ning for each period (5 of them). It would cut down the time on my part to have them all on one ning.
I would love to go into your ning to see how you have it set up, but I can't get past the first page.
I'm sure I'll have other questions in the future. For now I just want to say thanks for the "all students on one ning" idea!
With your interest in Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording conducted by Nellie Deutsch on Technology Integration.
