Hi Steve - well I'm based in Leicester, and I've also been fortunate enough to work with Sue Thomas. She's currently on the steering committee of Jisc's Emerge project, which I also work on (& which uses Elgg too).

I sent a copy of your email that you sent to the group as a whole to Ning just to give them a heads-up that it might be network related. I can tell you that there has always been an acknowledged delay in networks showing up. :) So I think you've got some good news!

Yes. Very interested to see what happens when you try from home! Thanks.

Steve:

I personally haven't had any of the difficulties you've described with Ning. Their latest release, just about ten days ago, was the first time I really ever saw any hiccups from NIng, and it did involve a complete change in how registrations/accounts are done...

Can you copy me on any requests for help you made from them, and let me see what I can do?

Thanks for the heads-up!

Hi Steve,
here is the link from Ning documentation, http://docs.ning.com/page/page/show?id=492524%3APage%3A2131&page=2. You'll find here information how to add a tab (or more).
Isn't difficult.

About adding other files, I recommend you Scribd for PDF and doc. files and SlidehShare for PowerPoint.

I have a long journey ahead to see if I, as educator, can use Ning not only as a "hub learning" (a community) but as a course management. My advice is to use Ning with a small number of students (maybe less than 50).

Best wishes,
Gabriela
