1. Tori's response to my very specific feedback illustrates an important aspect of my feedback style: that is, as she said, honing in on something very specific and encouraging students to spend a good deal of time working on a single aspect of th...
1. I think this is a good way to give feedback to an older student (one who understands constructive critism) becasue it gives them access to a variety of different opinions. Some suggestions they may agree with and others they may dismiss but it ...
Once again, I have learned that feedback is powerful. It is exciting to be able to collaborate with colleagues on student work. I learn a lot from the dynamic of interactions that result from several professionals considering and critiquing the sa...
1. What kind of feedback did your peer provide to you on your feedback to Marissa? Summarize the exchange. Then, reflect on how it felt to get feedback from a peer about your feedback. Did you learn anything new about yourself? About feedback in g...
Sharon,
Hi, I had the same trouble with that almost gorgeous sentence you pointed out starting with "That prerogative", and I wanted to understand it also but couldn't. I hope Marissa can break down her ideas a little more so that what she is expl...
Hi, Marissa!
I really have enjoyed reading and rereading your essay. I am struck by all the excellent changes you have already made to this draft from the earlier drafts I saw. For instance, you added concessions to the beginnings of most of your...
I love the band, too! What exactly happened with your co-workers? I'd be interested to hear more. You might look around on Ning in Education and see if others had similar issues,

Sharon,
I am fascinated that you use a Ning with family; that's incredible! Most of my family is on Facebook, but I really like the idea of having a ning for a family. Way cool. I'm inspired!
Hey Taylor, nice to visit your page...
Right before I left I made a ning site for the DV / Sunnyside group, but I am still not sure if that is good, or if we should follow your lead and use the ning in education site...!
Seeing your page and how you well you can use it to communicate with other educators again reaffirms that it's probably better to use this site and create a group within it. I know this is crazy times for you, so I will not expect a quick reply :)...but let's touch base soon to talk about me visiting your class and the NEA grant etc.
thanks for all and hope all is well with you.
Thanks, Caps. I'm slowly negotiating my way through this, so expect lots of questions from this end. I want to be up to speed when school starts.
Is there any way to see Jesse's essay and your colleagues' feedback, so I can get a feel for how it works? I got the impression from one commenter that a major drawback may be that comments can't be put directly into the essay, as I do in Word.
Hey Taylor,
Thanks for the kid words. I feel that I am making it up a we go along. Your work is top-notch, the genuine article. Keep up the good work and enjoy. On to the demo!

A sexy picture, hmm? For a school-ish website? Scandalous!
Twitter's easy. Mine's in my nascent stage at the moment: www.twitter.com/ContiIB. You just convince your kids to follow you, and then send out updates. If they set it up so it sends updates to their cell phones, then the alert you send out will get sent to them in a text, too. Once school starts I'm going to push it so my kids know what's going on.
I might have a picture or two :) I just need to find the discipline to sit and load it...
Yes, I am very excited to be working with you both on here and on the PD part. There is just so much that we could do it is hard to focus. Have you noticed that focusing might be an issue? :)
I really like your teaching demo and how you are incorporating technology. I think that it will be very helpful and an incredibly unique way to teach writing.
