I have been using Nings for 3 years at the middle school level in US History classes. I am having a problem this year that I have never experienced in the past. My students are not allowed to access personal email accounts during the school day. Because I wanted our Nings to be private, I usually set up a generic email account through gmail. Are you familiar with the gmail+ trick? If my email address is historyclass@gmail.com, then historyclass+student1@gmail.com is a valid email address, but actually delivers to historyclass@gmail.com. You could do historyclass+student2@gmail.com for the second student, etc. You'd have to set up all accounts for them, but that should be OK.
