Using Ning for Educational Social Networks

Hi everyone,

We are using the Quality Matters Rubric for assessment of our online courses and because I teach in Ning rather than a CMS tool, I failed the assessment because NING is not ADA compliant.

QM requires that:

The course incorporates ADA standards and reflect conformance with institutional policy regarding accessibility in online and hybrid courses.

Course pages and course materials provide equivalent alternatives to auditory and visual content.

Course pages have links that are self-describing and meaningful. 8.4 The course ensures screen readability.

Has anyone had difficulty dealing with this?

How can we figure out a way to improve the accessibility features of NING so we can still use it for teaching?
