Hi Jim,
Thank you for your comment. Will you be attending APA in Toronto in August? I would very much enjoy working with you in the fall. Let me know if I can be of help this summer in connecting with other high school teachers, project syllabus or anything else for that matter.
I look forward to working with you. Ron

Thank you for the response Bob. I am in the process of organizing the curriculum, and plan to use student blogs and del.icio.us tags to have students research and share supplementals for the course.

I am curious about your distance learning class. Are you teaching this course across district lines? I'm not familiar with the set up in Nebraska, are your districts organized by county?

In PA, school districts are small. I see the potential in our corner of Northwest PA for sharing resources. See 2020 vision at http://nooneknowsyet.edublogs.org. I am interested in how the logistics were accomplished.

Jim,
Our school has access to "Angel" course management software, similar to Blackboard or WebCT. Other teachers have said Moodle has been been upgraded to be better than Angel. With Angel, the instructor can create blogs, wikis, discussion boards, online essays with web sites embedded, surveys and quizes that automatically score themselves. It also has an online gradebook. My psychology class is distance learning, allowing me to teach my own students but also others in at least three locations with all assignments posted online.

Hi Jim....
Not sure-I joined for fun when I was at a conference and haven't really played too much with it. Interesting move to the high school-how exciting.

Hi all, I'm Jim and I teach sixth grade social studies at Fairview Middle School in northwestern Pennsylvania. Fairview is a small suburban/rural community ten miles west of the City of Erie.

I have a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and have been teaching for ten years. I will be teaching in the high school next year (grades and subjects to be determined), and I hope through ning I can become versed in using Web 2.0 tools in the classroom.

I'm looking forward to exchanging ideas with all of you.

Jim
